How to Read the Figures and Locations
- Each record counts as one event, even if it covers multiple locations or incidents. The number of markers therefore differs from the number of events.
- Events spanning several dates are assigned to their start date in the timeline.
- A city or district name does not establish the precise location of an event.
- Reporting-source locations are distinguished from incident locations. The location of a reporting source is not necessarily the location of the event.
- Casualty totals combine the selected numerical figures in the records, retaining qualifiers such as approximately and at least where reported.
- Cumulative figures announced by some parties are not included in the chart.
- Charts reflect the selected period. Region filters and searches affect only the map and event log.
