Shabwa (South24)

At least two people were killed, and nine others were wounded yesterday in a Houthi missile attack on a mosque in Shabwa governorate, South Yemen.

According to local sources, "South24", the missile targeted a mosque in Al-Alam camp, in Jardan district, east of the governorate, while the soldiers were performing their Maghrib prayers.

So far, the Houthis have not claimed responsibility for the attack, though it matches several other attacks launched by the Iranian-backed rebels over the past two months in Shabwa.

Shabwa Defense Forces (formerly the Shabwani Elite) are stationed in the camp, which entered the governorate in conjunction with the battles to liberate three districts in it from the Houthis' grip, last January.

The Houthis had suffered a severe defeat at the hands of the Southern Giants Brigades in Shabwa. The Giants liberated the districts (Beihan, Ain, Usaylan) with the military operation "South Tornado."

The Houthis claimed responsibility for missile attacks towards the Southern forces' camps, some of which hit residential neighborhoods and caused civilian casualties.
