Yemeni activists and journalists launched a campaign of appeals for the release of a journalist in Houthi prisons in Sanaa after his health deteriorated.

The campaign called on the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to intervene to pressure the Houthis to release journalist Tawfiq al-Mansouri who was sentenced to death.

According to activists, al-Mansouri's health has seriously deteriorated amid the Houthis' refusal to transfer him from the central prison in Sanaa, where health care for prisoners is absent.

Activists and journalists started a twitter campaign to demand health care for al-Mansouri, who resides in prison for more than seven years (حياه_الصحفي_المنصوري_في_خطر#).

Al-Mansouri is a Yemeni journalist who was arrested by the Houthis on June 9, 2015 after they took control of Sanaa, along with 3 other journalists, on charges of collaborating with the Saudi-led Coalition.

Later, a court in Sanaa issued a death sentence against al-Mansouri and his fellow journalists, which has not yet been implemented. Journalists close to al-Mansouri say that he had harsh experiences in Houthi prisons and torture.
