23 cholera cases detected among migrants in Aden

Ahmed Al-Bishi, the health director for the capital, Aden, today told South24 Center that 23 African immigrants infected with cholera have been quarantined over the past several days.
The health official explained that the migrants arrived in Aden after illegally entering by sea, amidst an ongoing surge of migration from Ethiopia and other countries.
Al-Bishi pointed out that the migrants are receiving the necessary healthcare and food to help them overcome their critical health condition.
"We have prepared a quarantine to isolate the infected people from the rest of the African immigrants and residents of the capital, Aden. Their health condition is constantly improving, and we are looking for other possible infected people," he added.
Al-Bishi also pointed out that Aden authorities had contacted the International Organization for Migration to coordinate with them regarding these migrants, in addition to speaking to Doctors Without Borders.
He added: "We also addressed the military and security authorities to take measures to limit the illegal migration of Africans across the sea."
Yesterday, Yemeni news agency Saba announced that Coast Guard forces had rescued 26 African migrants after a boat carrying 75 migrants sank off the coast of Hodeidah.
The agency indicated that 49 migrants, including women and children, are still missing. Yemeni forces deployed additional boats to search for them.
77,000 migrants from Africa arrived in Yemen in the first half of this year, according to the International Organization for Migration.
