Yesterday , Southern forces repelled the largest Houthi attack since the UN-brokered truce in April 2022 on the Karsh battlefront in Lahj Governorate, north of the capital, Aden.

A senior military source within the Southern Armed Forces told South24 Center that 11 of its soldiers were killed during the sudden night attack by the Houthis, while an unknown number of Houthis were wounded.

According to the source, dozens of Houthi militants attempted to take control of a position held by Southern forces, resulting in clashes that involved various calibers of weaponry and lasted nearly two hours.

The Houthis failed to achieve their military objectives and lost an as of yet unconfirmed number of fighters. The source did however indicate that at least 10 Houthis were killed and more wounded.

The attack marks the latest in a broader military escalation by the Houthis against the Southern Armed Forces on several fronts, including the battlefronts in the north of Al-Dhalea and the Yafa battlefront in Lahj.

Over the past two weeks, nearly 10 Southern soldiers have been killed on the battlefronts in northern Al-Dhalea while fighting Houthi forces.

Additionally, two AQAP attacks against Southern forces in Abyan on March 24 and March 30 killed five Southern troops and injured four others.
