Lahj (South24)
Three civilians were killed in Lahj Governorate in South Yemen early Friday morning (Sep 6) in an attack by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting Southern forces, a military source told South24 Center.
According to the military source, the Houthi militia launched an attack in the Al-Masemir border area between the governorates of Taiz and Lahj, which led to the deaths of the civilians.
The source described the attack as "failed" because the Houthis were unable to penetrate the positions of the Southern Transitional Council (STC)-affiliated Southern forces that are stationed on these fronts.
Today, another military source reported that two Houthi militants were killed by the Southern forces in Al-Azariq district of Al-Dhalea Governorate.
Al-Azariq front in Al-Dhalea and Al-Masemir front in Lahj share a mountain range with Mawiah district, which is controlled by the Houthis in Taiz Governorate.
In a related context, a military source reported to ‘South24 Center’ that a Southern officer was killed during clashes with the Houthis on the Al-Hadd front in Yafa area of Lahj Governorate.
Occasionally, the Houthis launch violent attacks against Southern forces in Al-Dhalea and Lahj, despite the state of calm in the country.
