The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) issued a decision to dismiss three senior officials of the Council of Ministers and referred them for investigation.

According to a memorandum reviewed by ‘South24 Center’, the names of the dismissed officials include Anis Baharitha, the Office Director of the Prime Minister, his assistant Ali Al-Naimi, and Secretary-General of the council, Mutee Damaj.

The memorandum indicated that the decision was implemented on December 18. However, the document was leaked to the media yesterday (December 29). Two sources confirmed its authenticity to the ‘South24 Center’.

This decision, No. 30 for the year 2024, came within the framework of implementing a previous decision No. 25 for the year 2024, which aims to address existing problems in the council apparatus.

Decision No. 25 stipulated the formation of a committee to investigate problems in the council. The committee was supervised by PLC member Abdulrahman Al-Muhrrammi.

According to the memorandum, the decision referred Anis Baharitha to the Central Organization for Control and Accounting and relieved him from undertaking any duties.

Over the past years, Baharitha has held the position of Office Director of the Prime Minister and Acting Chairman of the Land Authority.

The decision also stipulated that Ali Al-Naimi be referred to the security authorities for investigation into the charges levelled against him. The memorandum did not provide additional details regarding the charges.

In the past few days, the PLC held daily meetings in Riyadh to discuss government reform files, the deterioration of public services in Yemen and the economy.

An informed source told the ’South24 Center‘ on Thursday (December 26) that "the Yemeni PLC failed to reach a consensus on steps to 'reform' the path of the legitimate government."

The source, elaborating about the Riyadh meetings, said that PLC Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi and other members still oppose developing practical solutions that would contribute to the development of the southern regions and help them emerge from the state of stagnation.

The source also stated that the President of the Southern Transitional Council and PLC member Major General Aidrous Al-Zubaidi withdrew from the PLC meeting on Wednesday, which discussed forming a new government.
