Ten people were killed and ten others injured on Sunday evening (November 1) in a ballistic missile attack targeting the Al-Suqya Health Center in Al-Mudharaba and Ras Al-Ara District, Lahj Governorate, South Yemen. A Southern military source speaking to South24 Center accused the Houthi militia of carrying out the attack.

Local sources told South24 Center that the strike killed and injured patients and healthcare workers, including doctors and nurses. The attack also damaged an ambulance stationed at the facility.

China's Xinhua News Agency quoted a local official as saying that the missile struck the Al-Suqya health complex, killing around ten people, all of whom were patients and medical staff, and injuring dozens of others inside the facility.

The official added that rescue teams and local residents continued recovering victims from the attack site amid concerns that the death toll could rise.

Initial casualty figures varied across local reports. Al-Ayyam newspaper quoted a health official as reporting four deaths and dozens of injuries, while sources within Lahj's local authorities told Erem News that five people had been killed and more than 11 others wounded.

Sources cited by Erem News said the explosion caused panic among patients, medical personnel, and nearby residents, while local reports indicated that the health facility sustained damage.

According to Xinhua, the Houthis had not immediately commented on the accusations surrounding the attack.

In a simultaneous battlefield development, a military source told South24 Center that fierce clashes had erupted between Southern Forces and the Houthi militia on the Bab Al-Mandeb front since dawn on Monday (November 2).

Military sources confirmed to South24 Center that Ayman Askar, commander of a support brigade within the Southern Giants Brigades, was killed on Monday morning during the ongoing fighting on the Bab Al-Mandeb front.

Separately, on Yemen's western coast, sources reported that an overnight airstrike targeted the Houthi-controlled port of Al-Salif in Hodeidah Governorate on Sunday, sparking a fire aboard a cargo vessel and prompting the evacuation of its 16 crew members, who were Syrian and Indian nationals.

These developments come amid continued military escalation across Al-Mudharaba, Ras Al-Ara, Bab Al-Mandeb, and areas bordering Taiz Governorate, where clashes and missile attacks have persisted between the Houthis, Southern Forces, forces loyal to the Yemeni government, and tribal fighters.

South24 Center documented Houthi attacks targeting military positions and civilian areas in Al-Mudharaba and Ras Al-Ara during September, including two ballistic missiles that struck a local market in the Al-Hajaf area and drone attacks targeting residential villages in Al-Suqya.
