Houthis Attacks the Southern Forces in Al-Dhalea and Yafa

Today, the Houthi group launched several military attacks on the Southern forces in Al-Dhalea and Yafa fronts, north and east of Aden.

According to a military source who spoke to "South24", a soldier in the Southern forces was killed and another wounded in an attack by the Houthis in the Al-Fakher sector, north of Al-Dhalea governorate, earlier this morning.

The Southern forces in "Al-Hadd" area of Yafa, Lahj governorate, repelled another attack with various weapons.

This escalation comes just four days before the end of the two-month UN truce in Yemen.

It also coincides with the negotiations between the Houthis and the Yemeni government to open the roads to Taiz and other governorates, in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

So far, no agreement has been reached on opening roads. The UN Envoy office announced yesterday the conclusion of the initial round of discussions.

UN Envoy Grundberg said: "I call parties to conclude their internal deliberations on the proposal urgently and deliver positive results to the Yemenis".

Grundberg arrived this afternoon to the capital, Aden, on a special UN plane.
