The Member of the Presidential Council in Yemen, Major General Aidrous Al-Zubaidi, inaugurated today the work of the Supreme Military and Security Committee in the capital Aden.

The head of the committee, Major General Haitham Qassem Taher, reviewed the members of the committees and the specialized teams in addition to the preparatory committees that will define the tasks and plans of action.

Al-Zubaidi said that there are "high hopes placed on the committee to resolve many complicated issues in the military aspect," stressing the Presidential Council's support for the committee to accomplish its tasks.

The committee was formed on May 30 with 59 members headed by Major General Haitham Qassem Taher, the former Minister of Defense after the Yemeni Unity and until the 1994 war.

In recent years, Haitham returned to Yemen after decades to lead the Coalition-backed military forces against the Houthis on the fronts of the West Coast.

The committee is scheduled to restructure the military and security forces subject to the Presidential Council, in accordance with the provisions and outcomes of the Riyadh consultations.
