Earlier today, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg met members of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) in the capital city Aden.

According to Saba news agency, Grundberg discussed recent developments with the PLC Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi, and the PLC member Abdul Rahman al-Mahrami.

Al-Alimi warned of the repercussions of the Houthi actions against the private sector and the freedom of movement of people and goods between the governorates, according to the agency.

The agency did not report any statement to the Swedish diplomat,  who is visiting Aden, three weeks after his visit to the Houthi-controlled Sanaa.

Grundberg is expected to meet officials of the Southern Transitional Council, according to South24 sources.

The visit comes in light of the news that a new agreement will soon be reached in Yemen, after the UN truce that ended on October 2.

Direct negotiations between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, with Omani mediation, unfolded over the past two months without an official announcement by Riyadh, but they did not achieve anything, according to the Yemeni foreign minister, who was speaking to Al-Arabiya TV last week.

PLC member Sultan Al-Arada also discussed today with the Envoy of the State of Sweden, the latest developments in the situation and peace efforts, according to the Saba agency.

In a related context, the Chinese chargé d'Affaires to Yemen Zhao Zheng announced his country's support for peace and reconstruction efforts.

The Chinese diplomat, who is visiting Hadramout governorate, in South Yemen, said that China is ready to increase trade exchange with Yemen.

This visit is the latest by an official from a major country to Hadramout, after multiple visits by diplomats from the United States and Europe over the past months.
