STC President Heads to Russia on an Official Invitation

Earlier today, the Southern Transitional Council (STC) announced a visit by its President Aidrous Al-Zubaidi to Russia at an official invitation.
The STC held an emergency meeting chaired by Major General Al-Zubaidi, who is also a member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), from the UAE capital city Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting, Al-Zubaidi announced a breakthrough in the salary crisis of the Southern forces, after a salary cut that lasted for more than 8 months.
The statement pointed to the historical relations that unite Russia with South Yemen, and the positive positions of Moscow, which received Al-Zubaidi twice, in 2020 and 2021.
The statement added, "The STC is open to various friendly countries, in a way that pushes the two-state solution to the pre-1990 borders."
Since its establishment in 2017, after merging the components of the Southern Movement, the STC has been seeking the independence of South Yemen from North Yemen.
The visit comes days after the reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran, in light of the ongoing talks that Riyadh is holding with the Iran-backed Houthis.
