Yesterday, the Iranian-backed Houthis announced they had conducted three naval military operations in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, following two weeks of an apparent cessation of attacks.
The military spokesman for the Houthis, Yahya Sarea,
said: “We targeted the American ship Maersk Yorktown in the Gulf of Aden, with a number of suitable naval missiles, and the hit was successful".
"We also carried out two military operations using drones. The first targeted an American destroyer in the Gulf of Aden, and the other targeted the Israeli ship MSC Veracruz in the Indian Ocean," the statement
added.
The statement confirmed the continuation of military operations in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Indian Ocean, until the Israeli war on Gaza is stopped.
The last Houthi attack conducted before these operations was on April 10, when the Houthis announced they had launched three attacks at the same time targeting American and Israeli ships, according to Yahya Sarea.
In a statement on the X platform today, US Central Command
said that a coalition vessel had succeeded in intercepting an anti-ship ballistic missile launched toward the Gulf of Aden from areas under Houthi control.
US Central Command forces also successfully engaged and destroyed four airborne unmanned aerial vehicles over Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, the statement added.
The European
Aspides mission operating in the southern Red Sea also announced that today, the Greek frigate ‘Hydra’ had shot down two unmanned aerial vehicles that were threatening maritime navigation.
In a series of
posts on X, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said today that the captain of the MSC Darwin VI had reported what seemed to be an explosion within the ship’s vicinity, 15 nautical miles southwest of Aden.
According to the latest update by UKMTO, the Liberian-flagged vessel and its crew are all safe, with military authorities supporting.
