14 people were killed today in a tragic traffic accident when a bus overturned in Taiz Governorate in North Yemen.
Local media sources said the accident occurred on a road that passes through the Al-Maqatra district in Taiz Governorate, where the bus plunged off a steep cliff.
The bus, carrying civilian passengers, was traveling from Taiz to Aden in South Yemen, according to the sources.
This incident highlights the ongoing dangers posed by roads in Taiz Governorate, Yemen’s most populous region.
Taiz endured a nearly decade-long Houthi siege before the main road to the city was re-opened in June.
Since 2015, Yemen’s road infrastructure has suffered extensive damage due to war and airstrikes, contributing to a rise in traffic fatalities.
