Yesterday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi announced his country's support for the efforts of Yemen's Presidential Council to reach a political and sustainable solution to the Yemeni crisis.

This came in a press conference held with the Chairman of the Presidential Council Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi following a visit, the first of its kind, to the country, which included a number of members of the Council including Aidrous Al-Zubaidi, Sultan Al-Arada, Faraj Al-Bahsani and others.

The Chairman of the Presidential Council and Yemeni officials had been on a regional tour that included the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

El-Sisi affirmed his country's support to "all efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen in accordance with the terms of reference for the Yemeni national dialogue, the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms, the results of the recent Yemeni consultations in Riyadh, under the GCC auspices and the relevant Security Council resolutions."

The Egyptian president said, "during the discussions, we further agreed on the need to combine all efforts and intensify joint work to protect the security and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Arabian Gulf, and the relevance of this vital issue with regional and international security and stability."

The Presidential Council in Yemen seeks to mobilize Arab support for its efforts in facing the challenges the country is witnessing, foremost of which is consolidating its political legitimacy and facing economic and humanitarian challenges.

"We are keen to provide various aspects of support to the Yemeni brothers, especially in the field of improving human capital and providing medical and food assistance," El-Sisi said.
