Houthis announce resumption of flights from Sanaa to Cairo and Mumbai

The Houthis announced today that commercial flights to Cairo, Egypt, and Mumbai, India, will resume via Sanaa International Airport starting this evening.
According to the Saba News Agency, the Houthi Ministry of Transport has scheduled daily flights between Sanaa and Cairo, in addition to two weekly flights between Sanaa and Mumbai.
The statement highlighted that this decision is part of an agreement recently concluded between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, without mentioning the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
On Tuesday, the Yemeni government reversed several economic measures, including decisions by the Central Bank in Aden affecting the banking sector, by the Ministry of Transport regarding Yemenia Airways.

In a briefing to the Security Council on Tuesday, the UN Envoy to Yemen said that an agreement was reached between the Yemeni government and the Houthis, facilitated by Saudi efforts, to halt the economic escalation between the two parties and move toward dialogue on the issue.
In June, the Ministry of Transport in Aden directed Yemenia Airways to transfer its assets in Sanaa to the capital Aden, or to the company's accounts abroad.
In response, the Houthis hijacked four Yemenia planes at Sanaa airport, causing a crisis for Yemeni pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia at the time. The planes were later released as part of the understandings with Riyadh.
