Today, top Houthi leader, Abdulmalik Al-Houthi, said that Donald Trump's victory in the United States (US) presidential election will not stop their naval military operations to target ships.
In a video speech broadcast by Al-Masirah TV Al-Houthi said: "The outcome of the US elections will not affect our principled position, and the enemies have no choice but to halt the aggression and siege on Gaza and suspend the aggression on Lebanon."
Al-Houthi stressed that ships linked to Israel, the US and Britain will continue to be targeted. He threatened more attacks deep inside Israel using drones and missiles.
“We have experience with Trump, as he was unable to resolve any war, whether in Yemen or in the region. We faced aggression against us during the previous Trump presidency and we were in a weaker position than we are today,” he said.
Al-Houthi described Trump as a "criminal and a tyrant”. He added: "Trump said he would end the wars, and if he is honest, let him stop the aggression in which America is participating in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon."
Al-Houthi called on the people of Sanaa and the North to turn out in a massive protest tomorrow (November 8) to declare support for the Houthi naval operations, and to show that they are not afraid of Trump.
On January 10, 2021, the Trump administration during his first term designated the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization of the first degree (FTO). However, the Biden administration lifted this designation on January 16 upon entering the White House.
On January 17, 2024, the Biden administration redesignated the Houthis as a ’Specially Designated Global Terrorist’ entity (SDGT), a second-degree classification, following the Houthi attacks on ships.
