Saudi Arabia Condemns Abyan Attack Against the Security Belt

Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemned the attack launched by AQAP members against the Security Belt forces in the Southern governorate of Abyan, on Tuesday.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement carried by "SPA": The Kingdom expresses its strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack that targeted a security checkpoint in Abyan governorate, and led to the death and injury of a number of Security Belt members.


"The ministry affirms the Kingdom's total rejection of all terrorist acts that target the security services and stability in the region," it added. The statement also expressed condolences to the families of the victims.


Yesterday, Abyan witnessed an attack by AQAP members against a security checkpoint in the international road in Ahwar district of Abyan, east of Aden, according to Southern military officials.


The attack killed 21 Security Belt soldier, including a senior commander and wounded four others. Eight of the attack members from AQAP were also killed, according to the Yemeni Ministry of Interior and the Security Belt.


AQAP has not yet claimed responsibility for the attack
