Nearly 85 people were killed and 322 others injured yesterday in a stampede incident in the Houthi-controlled Yemeni capital city Sanaa, according to Agence France-Presse.
Local sources told "South24 Center" that the horrific incident resulted from a violent stampede among hundreds of citizens during the distribution of minor financial aid from a merchant in the city of Sanaa.
Some sources said that Houthi soldiers firing to disperse the crowds, which caused an electric short circuit that led to immediate casualties and a violent stampede inside a school where the merchant distributed his financial aid.

"South24 Center" has not verified these claims yet. The Houthis reported the incident as a stampede between citizens during a random distribution of financial aid led to a painful result.
The head of the Houthi Political Council Mahdi Al-Mashat directed the formation of a committee to investigate the incident, according to the Houthi-affiliated Saba Agency.
Mohammad Ali Al-Houthi held the Saudi-led Coalition and the United States responsible for the incident. Al-Houthi said that the interventions of these countries in Yemen caused the spread of poverty in the country and the occurrence of the largest crisis in the world.
On the other hand, the Minister of Information in the internationally recognized legitimate government, Muammar Al-Iryani, held the Houthis responsible for the incident. The Yemeni official mentioned what the Houthis had done in the war and "looted the central bank in Sanaa".
The incident in Sanaa caused a state of shock in the Yemeni street, just one day before Eid Al-Fitr, due to the large numbers of victims. The incident received viral engagement on social media.
