The Southern Forces Control New Strongholds for AQAP in Abyan

Yesterday, the Southern forces announced complete control of Wadi Jenin in Mudiya district of Abyan governorate (east of the capital, Aden).
An official statement said that the Southern forces were deployed throughout the mountains of Wadi Jenin, on the border with the Houthi-controlled Al-Bayda governorate.
The commander of Abyan military axis, Brigadier General Mukhtar Al-Nubi, said: "Wadi Jenin was one of the most important strongholds for the terrorist organization AQAP, and our forces are now spreading in it".
This came one day after the Southern forces announced that they had taken control of AQAP's Al-Hajla camp in Mudiya district.
The official "Deraa Aljanoob" website quoted statements by Abyan Security Director, Ali Al-Kazmi, in which he said that their forces are chasing AQAP elements in remote areas and mountains.
In a related context, the Southern forces announced yesterday, that they had repelled an attack by the Houthi militia on Halhal front, northeast of Abyan.

The official spokesperson for the Southern forces, Mohammed Al-Naqeeb, told "South24 Center": "An attack by the Houthi militia on Halhal front in Abyan was repelled, causing heavy losses among them".
"The failed Houthi attack in Abyan aimed to relieve pressure on the defeated AQAP elements," he added.
A few days ago, the Southern forces have been carrying out a wide campaign in Mudiya district in Abyan governorate, as part of the "Arrows of the East" operation, which was launched by the President of the Southern Transitional Council, Major General Aidrous Al-Zubaidi, a year ago.
Yesterday, Al-Zubaidi appointed Haidara Al-Sayyed as the commander of the Security Belt Forces in Abyan, after the death of his brother, Brigadier General Abdulatif Al-Sayyed, in a terrorist attack by AQAP last Thursday, along with others.
