South Yemen’s oldest sports club wins Aden Championship Cup

Yesterday, Al-Tilal FC, South Yemen's oldest football club, won the second edition of the Aden Championship Cup in a match attended by thousands of cheering fans from Aden and neighboring governorates.


Al-Tilal FC, founded in 1905, beat Al-Sha’la FC 2-1 in the match that was held at the historic Al-Habishi Stadium in the Crater area of the capital, Aden.

The stadium began filling up with enthusiastic crowds much before the start of the match. Fans of Al-Sha’la held yellow flags to support their team, while Al-Tilal fans waved red flags.

The Aden Championship Cup kicked off on September 5, with the participation of the 10 Aden clubs: Wehdat Aden, Al-Tilal, Shamsan, Al-Sha’la, Ahli Aden, Al-Mina, Al-Nasr, Al-Jazeera, Al-Jalaa, and Al-Rawdah.


The football championship was organized by the Youth and Sports Department of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), the Yemeni Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Football Association.
