A Massive Houthi Attack Targets the Port of Mocha on the Red Sea

On Saturday, the Houthis launched an intense air attack targeting the port of Mocha, located on the Red Sea in southwest Yemen.

"The Houthi militia targeted the infrastructure of the Mocha port with three missiles and six drones, minutes after a government delegation from the Ministry of Transport visited the port to launch work in it", the Joint Forces spokesman, Waddah Al-Dubaish, to "South24".

Al-Dubaish said that "an explosive drone targeted a warehouse of humanitarian and relief aid containing a large quantities of humanitarian and relief aid intended for poor families."

“The attack also coincided with the anchoring of a commercial ship at the quayside,” Al-Dubaish added.

Activists published pictures showing plumes of smoke rising from the port. The local "NewsYemen" website said that fires broke out in a fuel tank inside the attacked port.

The head of the Political Bureau of the National Resistance, Brigadier Tariq Saleh, said that he inspected the port facilities after the attack.

In a tweet, he indicated that the Houthi plan "failed" to destroy the port.

The Houthis have not yet claimed responsibility for the attack, nor have they denied it.

The port of Al-Mocha was closed as a result of the war years ago and it resumed its activity weeks ago when two merchant ships docked in it.

So far, there has been no official comment from the Yemeni government in Riyadh about the attack.

This is the second attack launched by the Houthis in less than two weeks. The first targeted a training camp in Al-Anad base, Lahj Governorate, South Yemen on August 29, killing 40 people and wounding 60 others
