On Tuesday, the Houthi-controlled city of Sanaa, in North Yemen, witnessed multiple airstrikes by the US and UK, targeting military sites, including the Ministry of Defense complex in the Al-Ardi area.

Houthi-affiliated media reported that the US-UK coalition fighter jets launched 12 airstrikes targeting various areas in capital Sanaa, including six raids targeting the May 22 Complex in Al-Thawra district, and two raids on the Al-Ardi complex in central Sanaa.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) in a statement said that its forces conducted multiple precision strikes against Iran-backed Houthi targets in Sanaa and coastal locations in Houthi-controlled areas on December 30 and 31.

It said that US Navy ships and aircraft targeted “a Houthi command and control facility and advanced conventional weapon (ACW) production and storage facilities” which were used in Houthi attacks against US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The US attacks also destroyed “a Houthi coastal radar site and seven cruise missiles and one-way attack UAVs over the Red Sea”, it added.

Houthi spokesperson Mohammad Abdelsalam said the attacks represent "a blatant violation of the sovereignty of an independent state" and comes in support of "Israel", Al Mayadeen TV reported.

Abdelsalam pledged to continue the Houthi strikes, saying "Yemen will continue to defend itself against any aggression and remains steadfast in supporting Gaza."

The US-UK strikes came hours after the Houthis announced three operations targeting Ben Gurion Airport and a power station south of Jerusalem, in addition to an attack on the US aircraft carrier ’USS Harry Truman’, the eighth Nimitz-class aircraft carrier of the US Navy.

According to a statement by the Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea, ballistic missiles of the ‘Palestine 2’ and ‘Dhu al-Fiqar’ types were used, in addition to drones and cruise missiles.

The rebel group claimed that the attacks were carried out in conjunction with the US forces preparing to launch a major military operation, and claimed that they succeeded in thwarting the alleged attack.

Earlier today, the Israeli army announced that it intercepted a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards Israeli territory using an air defense system.

Israeli media confirmed that two missiles were intercepted; one outside Israel's borders, and the other after it penetrated.

Following the attacks, air traffic at Ben Gurion International Airport was temporarily suspended as a precaution, according to Israeli media.
