On April 28, Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov had a telephone conversation with President of the Southern Transitional Council of Yemen Aidarus al-Zubaidi, at the latter’s initiative.

Aidarus al-Zubaidi presented his assessment of the military, political and humanitarian developments in South Yemen, including the rationale behind the statement on establishing self-government in the southern Yemeni provinces, including in Aden.

At the same time, he emphasised that such measures were designed to effectively resolve the problems of the people that have been caused by the recent unprecedented floods and the threat of the spread of the coronavirus infection in the region.

The Russian side reaffirmed its approach towards finding solutions to current issues on the national agenda in Yemen through an inclusive inter-Yemeni dialogue with the assistance of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths.
